การจัดการสินทรัพย์หมุนเวียน

ความหมายและแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับเงินทุนหมุนเวียน (Working Capital)
1. เงินทุนหมุนเวียน (Working capital หรือ Gross working capital) หมายถึง สินทรัพย์หมุนเวียนทั้งหลายที่ใช้ในการดำเนินงาน
2. เงินทุนหมุนเวียนสุทธิ (Net working capital) คือ สินทรัพย์หมุนเวียน ลบ หนี้สินระยะสั้น
3. นโยบายเงินทุนหมุนเวียน หมายถึง นโยบายเกี่ยวกับ 3.1 ระดับของสินทรัพย์หมุนเวียนแต่ละประเภท
3.2 จะหาเงินจากที่ใดมาลงทุนในเงินทุนหมุนเวียน
4. การจัดการเงินทุนหมุนเวียน เป็น การกำหนดนโยบายเงินทุนหมุนเวียนและการนำนโยบายนั้นมาปฏิบัติ
นโยบายเงินทุนหมุนเวียน
1. แบบผ่อนคลาย (Relaxed) …บริษัทจะดำรงหลักทรัพย์ในความต้องการของตลาด และสินค้าคงคลังไว้เป็นจำนวนค่อนข้างมาก
2. แบบจำกัด (Restricted) ...บริษัทจะดำรงเงินสด หลักทรัพย์ในความต้องการของตลาด สินค้าคงคลังและลูกหนี้การค้า ให้น้อยที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้
3. แบบปานกลาง (Moderate) …ไม่มาก และ ไม่น้อยจนเกินไป
เงินทุนหมุนเวียน ประกอบด้วย 4 รายการหลัก
1. เงินสด 2. หลักทรัพย์ในความต้องการของตลาด (Marketable securities)
3. สินค้าคงคลัง (วัตถุดิบ, งานระหว่างทำ และ สินค้าสำเร็จรูป) 4. ลูกหนี้การค้า

โจทย์ 15-5 McDowell Industries sells on terms of 3/10, net 30. Total sales for the year are $912,500. Forty percent of the customers pay on the 10th day and take discounts; the other 60 percent pay on average, 40 days after their purchases.

ระยะเวลาเก็บหนี้ถัวเฉลี่ย (DSO : Days Sales Outstanding)
= 0.4 (10) + 0.6 (40) = 28 days
b. What is the average amount of receivables ?
ยอดลูกหนี้ = $912,500 / 365 = $2,500 sales per day
c. What would happen to average receivables if McDowell toughened up on its collection policy with the result that all nondiscount customers paid on the 30TH days ?
DSO = 0.4 (10) + 0.6 (30) = 22 days
ยอดลูกหนี้ = $912,500 / 365 = $2,500 sales per day
= $2,500 (22) = $55,000 average receivables
